Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) Benchmarking on inclusive ICT for persons with disability program in Uganda
NUDIPU as an umbrella board for persons with disabilities in Uganda in partnership with Eight tech consults won a grant from UCUSAF under UCC to enhance knowledge management, ICT adaption, digital skills, and access to e-service for persons with disabilities in Uganda, in this program some of the services offered to persons with disabilities were digital skills training, awareness and how to use assistive technologies, the national digital observatory for managing and maintaining an updated members register, access to service and more. On 13th Feb 2024 a team from Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) visited Jinja District union to benchmark on the success stories and impact the program has had on the persons with disabilities. The meeting was hosted at the district union offices, with attendance of 15 persons with disabilities from the union, NUDIPU representative, 8Tech representative and over 12 delegates from ZICTA accompanied by a team from UCC. The teams appreciated the impact the project has made on persons with disabilities and some of the take homes was to develop an observatory for Zambia to help in management of data for persons with disabilities.
