Job Summary

The Compound Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness of the

organization’s compound, including outdoor spaces, pathways, parking areas, and surrounding grounds. This

role supports a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Sweep and clean outdoor areas, including walkways, parking lots, entrances, and common outdoor

spaces.

• Remove litter, debris, leaves, and other waste materials regularly.

• Maintain cleanliness of drainage channels and ensure they are free from blockages.

• Assist with landscaping tasks such as watering plants, trimming bushes, and grass cutting as needed.

• Dispose of waste properly and manage compost or recycling where applicable.

• Report maintenance needs, hazards, or security concerns to supervisors.

• Follow safety procedures while handling cleaning tools and chemicals.

Key Outcomes

• Compound areas are consistently clean, tidy, and free from hazards.

• Waste and debris are removed promptly to maintain hygiene.

• Outdoor spaces are well-maintained, enhancing the safety and appearance of the facility.

• Compliance with health and safety standards in compound maintenance.

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions; physical activity involved.

• Requires early morning or late afternoon shifts depending on operational needs.

• Supports humanitarian operations by ensuring a clean and safe environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Basic literacy is preferred.

• Previous experience in compound or grounds maintenance desirable.

• Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Knowledge of basic gardening or landscaping a plus.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

• Fluency in [local language] preferred.
